Desilube 98F | NSF HX1 Extreme Pressure EP/AW Additive for Lubricants & Greases
An eco-friendly, high-performance anti-wear, anti-friction, extreme pressure lubricant additive. HX-1 certified by NSF International for food-grade lubricants, it is Ecolabel ready and registered on the LuSC list. Suitable for stable suspensions in solvents, mineral oils, greases, and pastes, it serves as a replacement for graphite, MoS₂, chlorinated paraffins, and sulfurized olefins in a broad range of applications.
Description
Desilube 98F is a high-purity, food-grade EP/AW additive optimized for extreme pressure and high-temperature applications. It is partially water-soluble, making it ideal for specialized formulations.
Features:
Delivers weld points 800+ kgf in ASTM 4 ball EP tests as well as high Timken OK loads
Effective as a food-grade grease additive, meeting NSF HX-1 standards.
Fine particle size (5-14 µm) ensures uniform dispersion in formulations.
Applications:
Food-grade greases for high-load and extreme temperature conditions.
Water-based metalworking fluids for ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Specialty applications requiring environmentally safe and non-toxic additives.
Recommended Dosage:
1%–3% by weight.
Advantages:
Complies with food safety and environmental regulations.
Cost-efficient replacement for traditional extreme pressure additives.
Excellent performance in both oil-based and water-based systems.
Key Points:
• Excellent extreme pressure/antiwear properties
• Environmentally friendly
• Food grade HX1 approved
• Colorless
• Odorless
• Water soluble
• Applications: greases, metalworking fluids
(elimination of acid pickling)
Performance Specifications
Desilube 98F is engineered for the most demanding extreme pressure
applications in food-grade lubricant formulations. It delivers a
4-Ball EP weld point exceeding 800 kgf and high Timken OK loads,
significantly outperforming traditional EP additives at lower
treat rates.
Particle size: 5–14 µm, ensuring uniform dispersion across solvent
suspensions, mineral oils, greases, and pastes. The fine particle
size also enables stable suspensions in water-based metalworking
fluids, with solubility up to 20% in synthetic and semi-synthetic
formulations.
Compatible with API Group I-IV base oils and select Group V esters.
Proven synergy with MoS2, allowing reduced dosage of more expensive
or environmentally restricted additives. Functions as a direct
replacement for graphite, sulfurized olefins, and chlorinated
paraffins in heavy-load operations.
Typical Applications
– Synthetic and semi-synthetic metalworking fluids
– Light-color mold release compounds and pre-lube coatings
– Water-based forging lubricants
– Food-grade greases requiring extreme pressure performance
– Fine forming and drawing operations
Certifications and Compliance
NSF HX1 registered by NSF International for use as a component
of food-grade H1 lubricants. Registered on the LuSC list, making
formulations Ecolabel ready. Suitable for incidental food contact
applications meeting FDA 21 CFR 178.3570 requirements.
Recommended Treat Rate
For metalworking fluid applications: 2–5% by weight depending on
load conditions and base fluid system. For food-grade grease
formulations: 1–3% by weight. For MoS2 boosting properties 0.5-1%. Higher concentrations may be used
in specialty extreme-temperature or extreme-load applications.
